PULSE

Survival on the beat

A particle orbits a core while rings close in on the beat of a soundtrack the game synthesizes as you play. Tap to turn, hold to dive — one hit ends the run, and the restart is instant. Listed on the App Store as “PULSE — Rhythm Reflex”.

What it is

A rhythm game with no sheet music

Rhythm games usually hand you a chart to follow. PULSE hands you physics on a beat: the music decides when the rings arrive, your two moves decide where you are when they do. Nothing to memorize on day one — and on day thirty, the daily seed is exactly the kind of thing you memorize.

The beat is the level

Rings spawn and contract on the beats of a soundtrack the game synthesizes in real time — there is not a single audio file in the download. As you survive, the tempo climbs, and the haptics ride every beat, every near-miss and every death.

Two moves, learned in three seconds

Tap to reverse direction; hold to dive to the inner orbit. Solid rings leave a gap to steer through, dashed rings burn out mid-field so you duck under them. That is the whole game — the rest is you.

Easy to start, hell to master

The first rings of a run open exactly where you are drifting, and each one asks a little more — a tutorial no one notices. Past the first minute the curve turns cruel: the best runs in the world are measured in seconds, and restarts take half of one.

One daily seed for everyone

The Daily Challenge derives its seed from the date. Every player faces the identical sequence of rings, timed identically on every device, on one leaderboard that resets at midnight UTC. Learn it like a route, then race it.

Race your own ghost

Your best run is recorded and replayed as a translucent ghost alongside you. In the Daily it dodges exactly the rings you see; when it fades, you have outlived yourself.

Readable by design

System Reduce Motion is honored, colorblind-friendly palettes ship free, and the two ring types differ by shape — dashed against solid — not only by color. Difficulty is the game; deciphering the screen is not.

The pledge

Free, no ads — and purchases change nothing that matters

PULSE is free, shows no advertising, and needs no account — it does not even have a server. The only things for sale are cosmetics — color themes, particle skins, soundtrack timbres — and a tip jar whose entire effect is our gratitude. Purchases never change the speed, the gaps, the score or the leaderboards, and never will. The shop itself says so: cosmetics only, never pay-to-win.
